Recordings
Where does my audio go?
Your phone turns recordings into text. The AI that writes summaries receives text, not your voice. If transcription can't finish, the recording waits so you can try again.
Two separate promises cover that text. Nobody trains AI on it, not Tupo and not the AI service. And because the AI still has to read it to write a summary, Tupo first swaps names, places and numbers for placeholders on your phone, then puts the real ones back on your phone afterwards. It isn't perfect, so the odd detail can slip through.
Coffee with Maya at Sightglass went great. Call her Tuesday about the deposit, her number's 415-555-0142.
Coffee with Person A at Place A went great. Call her Tuesday about the deposit, her number's Phone number 1.
Your phone puts Maya, Sightglass and the number back when the summary comes home.
Where is my data stored, and who can read it?
On your phone, in encrypted storage. Nobody at Tupo reads your memos.
Our servers hold your account and subscription details, plus text while the AI is working on it. Finished summaries are cleared once your phone picks them up; anything uncollected expires after 24 hours.
The services we rely on are listed in the privacy policy.
What does the AI do?
It turns what you said into a summary, pulls out people, places and follow-ups, and writes recaps and meeting notes. It can get things wrong, so check anything important against the recording.
It never sends or posts anything for you. Neither Tupo nor the AI provider trains on your recordings, and it reads a redacted copy of your words, as shown above.
Your data
Your memories should outlast the company.
Export works on every plan. Memos save as PDF or Markdown, recaps as text or PDF, and a library backup covers your memos, people, places, recaps and settings, plus any audio you've kept. Backups restore in Tupo. Message history is not included.
A full export of everything you've recorded, and what happens if Tupo ever closes, are under Planned.
How do I delete my data?
Settings, then Delete account. It clears your phone and asks our servers to remove your files. Rarely, a file can be left behind, and it can't take back copies other people already have.
Can Tupo read my cloud backup?
No. Backup is optional, and your phone encrypts it before upload, audio included if you've kept it.
Keep your recovery info somewhere safe. Signing in alone won't unlock a backup, and if you lose every device and the recovery info, we can't get it back for you.
Does Tupo work without internet?
Mostly. Recording, playback, reading, search and export work offline, and your phone can turn recordings into text once its speech tools are downloaded.
Summaries, recaps, messaging and your account need a connection. They catch up when you're back online.
Money & company
What does Tupo cost?
Free: 90 recording minutes a month. Pro: 1,200 minutes a month for $4.99/month or $49.99/year. Same features on both.
New accounts get a 14-day Pro trial, with no card and no automatic charge. Details are in the plans above.
Who runs Tupo?
A small grassroots team based out of Oakland, CA. Tupo is not VC-backed. If we ever close, we plan on making Tupo open-source.
Why does the App Store say "Talvie Inc"?
That was Tupo's first name. The app was renamed in 2026, but the company is still Talvie Inc, so Apple lists it that way and it may show on older receipts. Same app, same people.
Permissions
What permissions does Tupo need?
Microphone, to record. Speech recognition, so your phone can turn audio into text.
Everything else is optional: notifications, camera and photos, Face ID. Tupo never asks for your location, contacts, calendar or health data.
Planned
A full export of everything you've recorded
One export with everything, to keep or take anywhere. It isn't available yet. Until then, memos and recaps save as files, and a backup covers your whole library.
If Tupo ever closes
Advance notice, time to export, and the final app released as open source.

Hi! I'm June :)
Thank you for taking the time to check out Tupo, a project I've been working on for the past year. I'm a hobbyist technologist, photographer, and nonprofit/community superfan based out of the Bay Area.
The idea for Tupo started back in late 2024 out of a simple need: I wanted to be more present and intentional with the people I love and myself. Without oversharing, I've gone through a lot and have lived a lot, and that combination makes it hard to remember and feel grounded. My simple ask is that I want to privately talk into my phone as effortlessly as possible, keep track of any moments I have or fleeting thoughts, and easily be able to recall that information later. That simple need grew into a much larger project.
Through development, I realized that the need I had for my own personal stability was also a need I had for my creative and business endeavors. I've used Tupo for recording meetings with the nonprofits I'm on boards of, for ranting to myself about new photoshoot ideas I want to create, and for collaborating with local artists while at coffee shops.
The app is still new and far from perfect, but I hope that you'll be patient with our small team and stick around and help this grow into something incredible together. Have suggestions or find some bugs? Feel free to email me or submit a request right in the app. I'd love to hear from you.
